Where is Home?

Home is the blueprint that sets the tone of our dreams and aspirations, a place to unravel, unmask, surrender and lose all consciousness, as Dryden calls it ”the sacred oasis of the spirit.”

Children of this sacred place, as a mother beckons her children, this land beckons you to come home and fall in love all over again, be renewed, refreshed and experience the stunning natural beauty and the richness of its cultural heritage. If just but for a little while, enjoy the simple joys of life and living in Anguilla! Her soft sands, majestic sunsets, the food, the sounds, the flora and fauna, the different shades of blue waters…….

This landscape is mesmerizingly beautiful and if nature was an artist for sure, Anguilla would be its masterpiece.

This is home and if ever we can’t come back and hear “ber ayuh lawd”, if ever we can’t come back to walk Crocus Bay, Shoal Bay, Meads Bay…..we will lose a little piece of our hearts, because there is absolutely No place like Home…it is a cultural explosion, a true expression of self.

We look forward to welcoming all Anguillians and friends too, to the myth, the magic and majestic Mas that is Inspirato Carnival! From those of us who live here to those returning home, we simply say: Welcome Home!

About us

Inspirato Carnival AXA was born out of an indescribable joy of calling Anguilla home! This feeling cannot be put into words, it is unshakeable, it is infectious, crawls under your skin and it never leaves you, it tugs at your heart strings, for no matter where you physically reside; or no matter how long you have stayed away, Anguilla whispers are always with you, haunting you to return to this place we simply call “the rock.”

This simple, celebratory joy and in the spirit of community and giving back a small group of creatives have intentionally decided that there is no time like now, to give back to Anguilla’s Summer Festival as during the Family Reunion while celebrating 50 years of carnival!

At the heart of Inspirato Carnival is family, for us there is no greater joy than a family gathering. Inspirato Carnival is in itself a gathering, created with the intention to bring a dream of celebration to reality. This is our dreaming in colour, and the result we believe is nothing short of spectacular. So spectacular that we have created three special sections that speak to the collective strength, power, beauty and diversity that makes us uniquely Anguillian. This is us celebrating and sharing the heart and soul of Anguilla!

They never taught us in school that the spirit of Anguilla passes through all of us, who belong here; but we all feel it and identify with it in our own unique and different way. The common thread is that we are all part of this sacred place and deserve to connect with the heart and soul of Anguilla. The connection is soul stirring, for this beautiful gem of an island, feels like an ancient place, a place where the indomitable spirit of our forebears still lingers, and we who belong are truly, so blessed to be an authentic part of this deeply, rich legacy.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME! Is Mas powered by the mesmerizingly, awe inspiring natural beauty of Anguilla intricately woven with the golden threads of the indomitable spirit of a people.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME! Is Mas created by celebrating Anguilla as a blank canvass, and as skilled artisans weaved our story using unapologetic, bold colours and “out of the ordinary” materials to create one legendary experience as we gather to celebrate this golden milestone!

NO PLACE LIKE HOME! Is Mas paying homage to our historical relationship with the sea in “UnderWater Mystique”, equally significant, it provides a window into the present- where we are right now through our finding nirvana in our majestic sunsets in Sunset Sequins and acts as a beacon of hope for the future represented in the vibrancy of the youth participating in White Cedar Lem Lem

To create NO PLACE LIKE HOME we embraced Anguilla, as a blank canvass, we threw our paint and created our own story. We strongly believe it is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate stunning creations inspired by the many aspects of the island’s natural beauty and culture.

The costumes presented weave a rich story and celebrate the awe-inspiring beauty and diversity of the island from its natural majestic sunsets, the mythical nature of the underwater world, and the blooming white cedar blossoms.

The creatives + designers behind these costumes have brilliantly captured the essence of the island through:

Underwater Mystique

Here we pay homage to the historical legacy of this land; Anguillian seafarers who bravely and fearlessly carved a living from the bounty of the sea. They were fishermen, sailors on wooden cargo vessels, or racing home from Dominican Republic (giving birth to our National sport, boat racing) Anguillians developed an inextricable relationship with the sea. Today, we remember and honour those souls that were lost at sea, during the pursuit of etching a living for the Anguillian family.

Sunset Sequins

Here we celebrate the majestic allure of the setting sun. One moment of an Anguillian fiery sunset is like food for the soul. To experience it is like a memory capsuled in time. It reminds us that life is to be lived in the present with intention and purpose. We can not stop being inspired by the majestic beauty of a fiery sunset and the riot of colours to be found in the sky. The ombre effect of blazing oranges, magenta, gold and the sky set ablaze with a sparkle effect of sequins!

White Cedar Lem Lem

Here we revel in the quiet beauty of our national flora found in the white Cedar Trees. “Lem Lem is the African word for blossoms “and the white cedar blossoms fall and flutter in colourful profusion and blanket the earth with its beauty. In weaving this story and creating the costume we found renewal and freshness, a sense of hope and optimism for Anguilla’s future. This is a natural then that the White Cedar Lem Lem will be celebrated with the youth representing our future, featuring empowered leaders, dreaming big dreams for Anguilla!
